QCTO – Quality Council for Trades & Occupations
Established under the Skills Development Act, the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) oversees the development and certification of occupational qualifications in South Africa. The QCTO sets high standards for qualifications in fields like machine operation and technical roles, ensuring the country has a skilled workforce. It accredits training providers and ensures they meet required standards. As one of South Africa’s three quality councils, alongside Umalusi and the Council for Higher Education, the QCTO defines labor-related needs and ensures quality in occupational qualifications and workplace training.
